Privacy Policy

Plain-language and short. We collect as little as possible to make Horizon Client work.

Effective: October 2026

The short version

  • Your Microsoft password never reaches us — you sign in on Microsoft’s own page.
  • Your sign-in tokens are kept only on your PC, encrypted by Windows.
  • Our cosmetics service stores your Minecraft username, UUID and the cosmetics you have equipped. That’s it.
  • No ads, no selling data, and no tracking or analytics — in the app or on this website.

What stays on your PC

Horizon Client keeps its settings, instances, worlds, screenshots, logs and downloaded game files in %APPDATA%\HorizonClient on your computer. Your Microsoft and Minecraft sign-in tokens are stored there too, encrypted with Windows’ built-in data protection, so only your Windows user account can read them. We don’t receive any of this.

Signing in

When you sign in, Horizon Client opens Microsoft’s login page. After you sign in, it talks directly to Microsoft, Xbox Live and Minecraft (Mojang) services to get your Minecraft profile — the same way the official launcher does. Your password is handled only by Microsoft. Those services are covered by Microsoft’s own privacy statement.

Horizon services (api.horizonclient.org)

To show your cosmetics to other players and theirs to you, Horizon Client uses our service at api.horizonclient.org. To prove you own your Minecraft account, it uses Mojang’s standard server-join check — we never see your Microsoft password or Minecraft access token.

The service stores:

  • your Minecraft UUID and username;
  • your equipped cosmetics (which cape, hat, emotes and so on) and when you last changed them.

Your IP address is used only while you’re connected, to stop abuse (rate limiting) and keep the service secure. It is kept in memory and not saved to our database. Our server’s console log records sign-ins to the service with your username, UUID and the time, which we use to keep the service running and to investigate problems.

Other Horizon Client players can see your equipped cosmetics and the emotes you play — that’s the point of the feature.

Servers, mods and packs

When the launcher shows a server’s status, it contacts that server directly, like Minecraft’s own server list. When you browse or download mods and resource packs, the launcher contacts Modrinth or CurseForge directly, and their privacy policies apply. Minecraft and Java downloads come from Mojang.

This website

horizonclient.org has no cookies, analytics, trackers or ads. It’s hosted on Cloudflare, which processes requests (including IP addresses) to deliver the site and protect it from attacks.

Who else is involved

  • Microsoft / Xbox — sign-in.
  • Mojang — Minecraft profiles, account verification and game downloads.
  • Cloudflare — hosting and protection for this website, our downloads and our service.
  • Modrinth and CurseForge — only when you browse or download mods and packs.

We don’t sell or rent your information to anyone.

Children

Horizon Client requires a Microsoft account that owns Minecraft: Java Edition, so Microsoft’s account and family rules apply. We don’t knowingly collect more than the information described above from anyone.

Your choices

  • Turn off cosmetics sharing in the in-game Horizon menu (Cosmetics → Options).
  • Remove your local data by deleting %APPDATA%\HorizonClient.
  • Ask us to delete your data from our service (your username, UUID and equipped cosmetics) by opening a ticket in our Discord.

Changes

If we change this policy, we’ll update this page and the date at the top.
